South Bay Contemporary, SoLA Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of “Welcome to the Rhino” a solo exhibition of sculpture and prints by Lauren Evans on view September 9, 2017 – October 7, 2017. Opening reception September 9th 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
“Welcome to the Rhino” will feature an installation of large mixed media sculptures along with digital prints. Evans states, “The rhinoceros is a metaphor for the frightening, inner turmoil, residing inside each of us, that place where we do not want to go. It is the inner being – a powerful, prehistoric animal that despite its strength is a fragile, vulnerable, endangered creature. My work examines the challenges and turmoil that everyone faces throughout life, using visual metaphors for awkwardness, uneasiness, or instability.”
