SOVO// Magazine is pleased to present their third Half Issue, :philia⏤a two day solo exhibition of 15 original black and white fine art prints by large format film photographer, Milana Burdette. With this series, Burdette explores the psychology behind a variety of sexual paraphilias. This study will be exhibited on April 20th and 21st, 2019 at 1108 S. Los Angeles St. in Downtown Los Angeles.
Milana Burdette, 26, was born and raised in Los Angeles. Although astutely academic in her investigative approach to human behavior, it is her devotion to encapsulating light and shadow which renders her images insightful and inviting. Compassion for human emotion allows her to seamlessly step into subject areas ordinarily considered taboo. Her fine art prints act as field notes for her ongoing investigations.
:philia offers a compelling demonstration of Burdette’s subsequent mastery of technique, shot on Illford HP5 Plus 400 ISO 4×5 sheet film, then enlarged by hand onto 16×20 inch Fomabrom 112 Variant III VC FB paper, and finally mounted in an elegant 20×24 inch white frame.
SOVO// is honored to present an original series of this artist’s work for the first time. In addition to viewing Burdette’s originals on the gallery walls, attendees may also acquire a signed and numbered limited edition hardcover book of her Half Issue, published by SOVO//. Each book includes a signed certificate of authentication from the artist. The artist will be available to answer any questions you may have at the show, and will discuss her work further both Saturday and Sunday.
