Saatchi Art invites guests to an intimate open studio with Los Angeles–based artist Karolina Maszkiewicz, offering a rare opportunity to experience her kinetic works in the environment in which they are created.
Maszkiewicz’s practice draws from traditional craftsmanship and natural materials, transforming wood, metal, and found organic elements—most notably seed pods—into delicately balanced sculptural forms that respond to air currents and touch. Suspended and in quiet motion, her works evoke natural canopies and aerial gardens, inviting viewers to slow down and engage their senses. Rooted in an interest in the intelligence of natural forms, her work seeks to reawaken a feeling of connection to the environment at a time when that relationship can feel increasingly distant.
Born in Poland and now working in Los Angeles, Maszkiewicz brings a background in both fashion design and sculpture to her approach, blending precision, material sensitivity, and an intimate understanding of form. Her installations transform indoor spaces into living, breathing environments—subtle reminders that we exist within nature, not outside of it.
The open studio also celebrates Saatchi Art’s continued mission of supporting emerging artists and expanding access to contemporary art, marking fifteen years of fostering new creative voices and collector relationships around the world.
