Stephanie Pryor’s work continues to evolve and resonate in both the abstract and narrative realm. This most recent suite of paintings are exquisitely lush and suggest more complex narrative relationships as in “Crow Jane,” where a series of small crow heads punctuate the surrounding space with wit and imagination. David McDonald’s beautifully appointed sculptures are a perfect counterpoint to Pryor’s paintings which resonate with their own idiosyncratic complexity. Made from wood and Hydrocal, these sculptures are at once humorous and strangely enigmatic as the paint and Hydrocal pulls, drips and cracks, giving one the sense that they are as delicate as they are sturdy.
