Announcing Tieken Gallery LA as the latest contemporary art gallery installment on 961 Chung King Road, with a GRAND OPENING reception being held on Saturday, October 21, from 7-10 pm

The pedestrian walkway of Chung King Road provides an unparalleled opportunity for city-dwellers to forget about traffic and stroll the area at leisure. And, it’s not unusual on any given Saturday night to be entertained by one or more live bands.

From Fred Tieken:

Ever since Gail and I visited a Chinatown gallery opening a few years ago, this urban gem in downtown Los Angeles has held a special place in our hearts. Its history is interwoven with the city itself and its present incarnation as a hip home for artists, galleries, photographers, musicians and one-of-a-kind shops makes it a regular stop for a night out on the town.

So, when our friend Mat Gleason from Coagula Curatorial called and said he knew of an available space just a few steps from his gallery, we had to take a look.

And that is how Tieken Gallery LA came about. The grand opening is scheduled for October 21, 2017 with a solo show of new Fred Tieken paintings along with a large scale installation, Killer bees attack MAR-A-LAGO.

Here is what Mat said about the Killer Bees installation:

Killer Bees Attack Mar Al Lago is a satiric installation by artist Fred Tieken that brings up some serious environmental and political concerns. While the rest of the disaffected are angrily posting on social media, Fred Tieken is cleverly constructing an experiential installation that shows killer bees on the attack – aimed at the vacationing source of conservative economic and environmental policy that doesn’t favor the long term interests of any living being, be they mammalian or insect.
