LEADAPRON is pleased to present two side-by-side shows, group show COPPER PAPER CLAY curated by Carie Kawa, and Imaginary Screenshots, presented in partnership with Whitcher Projects.
COPPER PAPER CLAY offers works from artists of three different generations, working in a variety of materials and formats: copper photogravure plates by Edward S. Curtis, works on paper by Frédéric Bruly Bouabré and fired clay sculptures by Raven Halfmoon. Each of these artists offers a unique perspective on indigenous identities and cultures, and by bringing them together, COPPER PAPER CLAY illuminates shared thematic inquiries, including the relationships between tradition and modernity, myth and materiality, personal experience and cultural legacy. Raven Halfmoon will be in attendance at the opening event, celebrating her Los Angeles debut with this show.
Imaginary Screenshots presents works on paper by Los Angeles based artist Jeffrey Alan Scudder.
