KP Projects is proud to announce the latest sculptural and installation work by Scott Hove. A duo of sculptural series and installations cohesively entitled Last Ticket for the Beauty Train, the exhibition will consist of two parts in separate locations with a fully-immersive, walkthrough installation at the gallery’s Chinatown pop up space, and a multi-media art showcase at the permanent gallery location on La Brea in Los Angeles.

Through a seamless intertwine of sweet beauty and unexpected touches of fierce elements such as knives, guns, animal horns and the open snarl of fanged animal mouths, Hove confronts the viewer with the dualism of light and dark, innocence and desire. These ruptures in the seemingly approachable and happily indulgent cake surfaces allude to a wild, free and uninhibited essence at the core of each seductively frosted illusion.

The center of the Chinatown installation will feature a groundbreaking pentagon shaped infinity mirror chamber, complete with tiered cake sculptures and disco ball refracting light onto the surrounding walls. As a fully immersive, walk-through experience, the Chinatown installation will also include an altar of cow bones and flowers, a selection of stand-alone sculptural elements and fabric drapery throughout the entire space. At the opening reception, accompanying burlesque dancers sleeping, putting on makeup and looking at the soft glow of cell-phone screens merge performance and visual arts to enliven the entire installation as an atmospheric fairytale with a sharp edge.
