Creative forces collide in ‘Beautiful Beast’, the collaborative exhibition of actor, skateboarder and painter, Danny Minnick and actress, designer and model, Samaire Armstrong. The duo has created over twenty original works that depict a merging of personal technique and style and an intersection of masculine and feminine energy.
About Danny Minnick:
Danny Minnick made his way from Seattle to the East Coast in the early 90’s and found himself on a skateboard in middle of Manhattan. His unique style of abstract expressionism is a veritable breeding ground for a clever cast of characters and hidden images that suddenly appear during his acrylic and oil work. Danny last completed a successful second solo show, Break the Walls, at Boîte Noire Gallery in the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. His work can be found in the collections of Nick Cassevettes, Cash Warren and Jessica Alba, Michael Citrone, and Gus Van Sant, Fred Durst and Ron Burkle.
About Samaire Armstrong:
Born in Tokyo, Japan, of Italian and Scottish descent, Samaire (Sa-me-ra) is named after a fictional character from a novel her father was reading while her mother was pregnant. She attended a traditional Japanese Pre-school & Kindergarten, as well as three years at Kyoto International School. As a result she was deeply influenced by the rich Japanese customs and the vibrant pop culture in which she was raised. From a very young age she practiced art in all forms: drawing, painting, pottery, theater, fashion and jewelry design were all explorative creative outlets. She moved to Los Angeles as a teenager and has pursued acting, painting and singing ever since.
The Salon was established in 2013 to exhibit new works by emerging, and often unrepresented U.S. and international artists. Located in the prestigious Culver City Arts District, The Salon is the passion project of John Papsidera. Papsidera, an award winning casting director, restaurateur and avid art collector, wanted to create an inviting, creative space to encourage emerging artists in a relaxed, unpretentious space. The Salon is a hidden gem in the Culver City Arts District that strives to provide artists full control over the gallery space which results in fresh, unique events which feel more like a party than an art show. The Salon’s pioneering spirit and laid -back vibe encourages new collectors and injects passion back into the gallery experience. For more information please visit www.automaticsweat.com.
