2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Pier 94
55th Street West Side Highway, New York NY 10019

Art New York and CONTEXT New York Presented by Art Miami will return for its third edition, opening Wednesday, May 3 with a VIP Preview from 2-5pm to kick off Art Week in New York City. The preview gives collectors, art advisors, curators and members of the press the opportunity to view and acquire the most prestigious works available to the market before the fairs open to the public that evening.

Art New York and CONTEXT New York once again will take place on the main island of Manhattan at Pier 94, a venue that has become the most important exhibition facility for the arts in the area and annually attracts over 150,000 of the most discerning, culturally savvy and sophisticated collectors in the world. Art New York will offer both noteworthy and fresh works by important artists from the modern, post-war and pop eras, and feature paintings, photography, prints, drawings, design and sculpture. While CONTEXT New York will provide collectors with the opportunity to acquire important works of contemporary art from mid-career, emergent and cutting-edge talent by rising and established galleries.

Over 150 international contemporary and modern galleries from 50 countries representing over 1,200 artists will complement Frieze NY, the inaugural TEFAF fair, Collective Design fair, spring auctions, gallery openings and museum galas. Participating galleries have shown in major international fairs such as Art Miami, Art Basel, Design Miami, The Armory Show, Masterpiece and Expo Chicago, as well as the ADAA’s Art Show.

The fairs this year will place a premier focus on social awareness presenting a bevy of philanthropically driven special projects. At Art New York, Amarist Studio will present Welcome, an installation and jewelry exhibition that shines light on the current refugee crisis. Inspired by the razor wire recently installed along the borders of the European countries, all proceeds from Welcome Jewelry will be donated to UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency. Rock and roll photographer, Bob Gruen, who has shot everyone from John Lennon to Elvis Presley, will showcase ROCKERS, an exhibition featuring limited edition silkscreen prints of his most iconic images presented by Gary Lichtenstein Editions. Fifty percent of all proceeds will be donated to the Perry J. Cohen Foundation. Long-Sharp Gallery will present The 99% United We Stand, an installation of 99 intimately scaled portraits by artist Jason Myers. Each portrait portrays a faceless, nameless member of the 99% and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to XXX.

Over at CONTEXT New York, ill present All Proceeds, a series of conceptual socially engaged works by Pablo Helguera, artist and Director of Adult and Academic Programs at MoMA, who will donate 100% of the proceeds to a variety of organizations that support social issue causes.
